Hi, welcome :) Read http://tuxpaint.org/docs/html/EXTENDING.html with special attention on the brushes chapter and on where are located the files The steps to fix sould be: identify the filename of each of the two brushes open both with Gimp See which one is easiest to modify to avoid similarity with the other Modify it, test it and commit to cvs or submit here or at the sourceforge bug report. I gess that only reordering the "sparkles" brush is enouth... This is because they are very different, however they look the same when they show inside the buttons in the User Interface. > Can you please tell me which are the similar ones.? One is x.png and the other is sparkles.png, see how x is very similar to the first brush of sparkles (the left one) If you modify the x brush, then it will be a different brush, instead, one can easy modify the sparkles brush by swapping the left brush with one of the others, the brush will have the same brushes but the image shown in the UI will be different. Personally I prefer swapping with the third brush, it gives more the idea of sparkles. Re: Bug fixingReally, what we should do is similar to what The Gimp does, and provide little 'emblems' on the buttons, that denote when the brush is animated. (And also one for directional brushes. And, of course, both of those can appear on the same brush; e.g. the neko cat & squirrel ones) -bill! I still think my approach is enouth for this problem and that we can implement emblems at a later time.
