Bug hunt, etc.

Hi,

I haven't seen any bug hunt scores. Are they posted somewhere other
than the developer's mailing list? I think having the scores on the
developer's mailing list helps stimulate bug fixing as it makes the
release more real. I can help with this if given a bit of guidance.

I also am having a hard time keeping track of all the details of the
release as most are buried in old emails. I propose creating a wiki page
listing things like:

        Release wardens
        Schedule
        Bug hunt details
        Splash screen contest
        Release candidate builds

I can put this together too.

                                                Tav

Hey Tav,

Unfortunately I have been unable to find the time to tally the bug hunt
score as of yet, however steady progress has been made (with some
slowing as of late). I agree that at this point, it would probably
stimulate another batch of fixes.

In terms of guidance, it should be pretty straight forward. It
effectively involves searching launchpad for bugs that have been closed
as fixed since the frost began, creating a list of the bug numbers,
fixer, points, and descriptions, removing any closed bugs from the list
that were only closed and not fixed during the frost period, and
reporting back with that list.

The scoring system used during last release is quoted from Bryce's
announcement email: "High priority bugs are worth 9 points, Med are 6,
and Low 3.  We also now have 'Critical' bugs.  We'll give 12 for those."

Formatting example of the list (from the last release):

Pts BugID   Assignee      Description
------------------------------------------------------------------------
3  171593  Diederik      Snapping menu items and shortcuts
12  168588  Johan Engelen assertion failed, file sp-conn-end.cpp
3  171783  Bulia Byak    rclk on palette should change outline color
------------------------------------------------------------------------
18          Goal:  500

Once the initial list is done, maintaining it should be relatively easy
by comparison, especially with the list in the wiki.

If you go ahead with the bug hunt tally, it will be easier to determine
where we're at in the "schedule" for that piece of the wiki page as
well.

I should be available via email, irc, or jabber during the day over the
weekend (I'm -7:00 GMT). If you have any questions, please don't
hesitate to ask.

Cheers,
Josh
