If "Build ID" is a custom field you have defined, you can search for it
using the Boolean Charts. If it's just the text in a comment, then do a
comment text search.

Hi.
You could use Blocks and Depends on fields. Let's say that you submit
"Switch from socket communication to
corba" as a bug, which Depends on two other: Server changes, Client
changes (which can also depend on other bugs - tasks). This way you
can't close "Switch from socket communication to corba" bug before
server and client bugs are closed (all tasks done).
Using show dependency graph (tree) option you can check the work in
progress on your bugs (tasks)...
Moreover you can submit artificial meta-bugs (bugs connecting other
bugs) to do it.

Hey,

I want to change the Priority and Severity levels when filing for a bug.
Currently, I have the following and need to be change to as below:
Severity Change to
blocker severity 1
critical remove
major severity 2
normal severity 3
trivial remove
enhancement

How can I get the above mentioned changes implemented? I have never installed bugzilla. I just need to implement the changes.
Is there a step by step process that is available?

Please reply asap.
>>> where userid=?' using the bugs.qa_contact data that you got.
>>
>> Actually, I looked at this and you don't need to write a separate query,
>> all you need to do is what I said earlier, but replace
>> 'map_qa_contact.login_name' with 'map_qa_contact.realname'.
>>
>
>
>But the email shows nothing now. If I change back to
>map_qa_contact.login_name then I see the email address. So, I'm still not
>able to get the QA realname to show. {I tried the same for assignee and the
>email shows blank assignee data when I reference .realname}

I forgot to mention you also need to replace map_qa_contact.login_name with map_qa_contact.realname in the searchfields array in whine.pl.

Hi All,
I am using a subversion repository browser known as "Sventon".Where
the user can browse the repository and see the diff, log e.t.c.
I am using scmbug.so when ever I commit a file against a bugid i get
to see the affected file list in comment section in bugzilla.
There i want to add the Sventon link for that file.ex pom.xml
link should be something like--http://localhost:8082/svn/repos/TAC/
show/branches/aglite/pom.xml.by which developer can see the
diff,log,download

i modified the "comments.html.tmpl".i added the line given below

   [%- text = text.replace('([0-9]+|NONE)\s+-->\s+([0-9]+|NONE)\s+
([^:]+):((.+)/([^/\n]+)?)', '<a href="http://debasism:8082/svn/repos/
TAC/list/$3/$4?rev=$1">$1</a> -%]

Then in the bugzilla i encountered with the following error.

file error - parse error - bug/comments.html.tmpl line 225: unexpected
token ('<a) [% text = text.replace('([0-9]+|NONE)\s+-->\s+([0-9]+|
NONE)\s+([^:]+):((.+)/([^/\n]+)?)', '<a href="http://debasism:8082/svn/
repos/TAC/list/$3/$4?rev=$1">$1</a> %]

is there any onter way to achieve this.

Thanks,

Hi David,

Thank you so much for the clear explanation as below. Now, only I know mail
command is not really a sendmail.

I have follow the steps as mentioned below, and found that there is no
postfix in my machine, but there is sendmail in /etc/init.d/sendmail.

[root@sglx481 init.d]# /etc/init.d/sendmail status
sendmail (pid 31596 31588) is running...

I have use /usr/lib/sendmail <my_email_add>
Writing some text
.

And I get the mail sending to my email, does this mean my mail server
working? But how come I'm still not able to receive mail from bugzilla?
> I having the same issue too, not able to receive any mail although email
> bugzilla,
> it claim that email been sent to so and so.....but, from user side, we are
> not really receiving the mail, but when I test the sendmail function
> directly from my Linux Machine using this command "mail -s "subject"
> my_email_add < /etc/passwd", I have no problem to receive mail, any advise
> is welcome, thanks.
>

Hi Esther,

I'm no expert with the mail functions on linux, but I can try to give you
some advice based on my experience and my system (SuSE):

The "mail" program on linux isn't the same as the "sendmail" system used by
bugzilla. "mail" is simply a mail client in the same sense as Outlook
express or Thunderbird, while sendmail is an interface to the postfix daemon
which implements smtp functionalities.

You should first check that the postfix daemon is running on your machine.
To do that, try
sudo /etc/init.d/postfix status
If the daemon is not running (which would definitely explain why you're not
getting any emails), then you can start it using
sudo /etc/init.d/postfix start

In order to have the daemon start automatically when you start your
computer, you should add it to the corresponding runlevel:
sudo chkconfig --add postfix
This will set it to be started automatically (normally at runlevel 3 and 5 I
think) and terminated automatically when the computer is shut down.

Once this is running, you can make sure the sendmail interface is working as
well with the following:
/usr/lib/sendmail me@...
some dummy text
.

Where you should of course replace me@... with your own address.
Write your email message on the second line, and end your message with a
single period on the last line.
In order to check whether some errors have occurred, check file
/var/log/mail. There you should be able to see how the mail server of the
recipient reacted to your message. There might be various problems like:
- your firewall blocking outgoing connections on port 25: speak with your
system adminstrator
- sender address rejected: some mail servers may check the validity of the
address or the existence of the domain. Make sure you enter a valid address
within an exceptable domain (e.g. your corporate domain) as a sender (with
sendmail: -f sender@..., in bugzilla there's a configuration
parameter for this).

If you're able to receive emails sent this way, then you should get the
emails sent by bugzilla as well. If not, then you may have to tweak some of
the bugzilla parameters in the mail section.

Hope that helps!

David

I changed the map_qa_contact.login_name references to map_qa_contact.realname:

Ah. You can't upgrade a system using CVS unless it was originally
checked out using CVS. The best thing to do is install a new copy of
Bugzilla in a new directory, pointed at the same database. Then, run the
upgrade process (checksetup.pl) and move the new directory to where the
old one was.

> I'm following the instructions and logging as as anonymous. The problem
> is that there where some changes made to the system that are to be kept
> (I've done a diff and it seems to mainly be the templates folder plus a
> couple of changes to the way data is handled) but upgrade to the latest
> version. Mabye I should just grab the latest version, upgrade the
> database and reapply the customisations.

That sounds like a plan :-) If you want to do it with no downtime, clone
the database and use that clone on your new copy while you reapply and
test the modifications. When you are ready, change the new copy to use
the production database, run the upgrade script again, and move the new
code to where the old stuff was so that URLs still work.

Some of the users receiving system generated emails from Bugzilla and are replying to them which is causing some server issues. I want to be able to add a generic text message to the system generated emails that says "PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO THIS EMAIL. Use the link in the attached email to logon to Bugzilla" or something like that. Then when emails go out, there will be this message at the top of every email Bugzilla sends out.
> on the new bug entry page. They are still visible in the Custom
