Build number or precise version number?

Hi,

Does anyone know if it's possible to see precise version or build
numbers for 4D v11 and 4D Server v11?

I downloaded hotfix 2 but the version number show in the 4D menu, as
well as in Finder info shows version 11.4.

How can we be sure which version is actually installed?

I get  F0031140 with Application version. That would lead me to
believe this is a final version, internal number 3 of version 11.4,
based on the documentation. Is that HF2?

it is the right number for 11.4 HF2.

Rather complicated, and unfortunatly, 'Application version' does not
allow to read build.

Since v11, what's the use of 'revision number'???

This tech note is fine if you are trying to verify the version on a
specific machine.  Is there a way to do this programmatically so that
we can check it when a client logs in?
Thanks,

Unfortunately I'm not aware of any. Maybe others know more.

On Mac it's in the info.plist file (which is just an XML file).  They
key is CFBundleShortVersionString.

On Windows I suspect you'd have to use either LEP or a plug-in as I
don't know of any way to access the executable properties from 4D (short
of creating your own API to do it).

Kind regards,

Josh Fletcher

Hi,

posted a cross-platform example.

http://forums.4d.fr/Post//2735681/1/

on Mac it uses XSLT with Info.plist, on Windows
Scripting.FileSystemObject with cscript.

requires Unicode mode.

Hi,

shouldn't you also replace " " with "\ " on the CLI ?

Not on my Mac ;-)

But yeah, that would do the trick more generally.
