rxvt: build errors - what to do?

Hi,

i got errors when selecting rxvt from buildroot <Package Selection for the target>.
Can anyone say what to do here? Thx eric.

adding opencv library to embbed linux using buildroot

I'm new at trying to do things at this level, but I'm trying to make the buildroot on Ubuntu 8.04. I've been following the instructions at http://docwiki.gumstix.org/index.php/Buildroot which is pretty straight forward. I want to port embedded linux in ARM board.
I have started with buildroot download.

Following the transition to git how can I checkout buildroot to a specific SVN revision?

I had hoped that the SVN repository would remain read only for a while but it seems to
have gone away. Presumably I can clone git and then checkout back to the revision I want,
I'm just not sure how to specify that in git. Do I just have to work out what date the SVN
revision was?

How to use buildroot cross toolchain to port automake application

I am very inexperienced would like some advice.

I want to port an application that is structured for building with automake.

I have a tree with the application, and a separate buildroot tree. I do not want to add the application to the buildroot tree yet.

I have seen the buildroot documentation which describes how to use the cross compiler for a simple application, but I don't think this will work for me.

Please advise how I can use the cross toolchain to buld the application for my embedded system.

unable to compile libglib2 with buildroot

I am trying to compile gstreamer with buildroot and along with its many dependencies libglib2 also has to be compiled. Now the configure of libglib2 get stuck at the following point :

tslib broken

Seems like tslib has got broken when it was converted to use autotools, it has lost a
couple of the customisations needed.

Attached is my patch that works as it did before. Note this patch deliberately removes a
couple of the tslib patches as I believe they are wrong - see

or

I have the same problem.

generating gdb for the target

Hello,
i had some difficulties in using the GDB on the target. The first message was "Sorry Dave, i can't do that, unknown symbol format elf32-i386"
After some research i found the advice that the readelf.o object is missing, so the debugger isn't able to read the object file.
In the gdb/config.log i found the test "checking for ELF support in BFD" which fails because of an unresolved symbol to __lxstat in libiberty.

The base problem was the library include order: the gdb want's to link against it's own libiberty.a but the order is
<buildroot>/build_i386/staging_dir/lib
<buildroot>/build_i386/staging_dir/usr/lib
../bfd
../libiberty
so the libiberty.a from <buildroot>/build_i386/staging_dir/usr/lib is used which is linked against the libc of the host system.

After moving the local directories before the staging directories by modifying the <buildroot>/toolchain_build_i386/gdb-6.8/gdb/configure, the "checking for ELF support in BFD" was successful, the readelf.o was included and gdb works like a dream on the target.

Hope this helps someone, maybe the gdb developers can change the library order or the buildroot team can create a patch to do that.

Hi,

i use svn 25623 and a modified at91sam9263_defconfig.(Config is attached).
I'am able to build a rootfile and to mount it.
After exporting some values for TSLIB ts_test and ts_calibrate runs.

df_andi fails with :
df_andi: can't resolve symbol 'tslib_parse_vars'

I noticed this problem already in the past.

I rebuild and replace the following libs:

dejitter.so
linear.so
pthres.so
variances.so

Now fd_andi runs until the messages appears :
f_andi.c <504>:

The file tux.png is located in /usr/share.

I'am not sure, but maybe DATADIR is not set correctly during the build process ?

The configuration is a modified at91sam9263ek_defconfig.

This is the first patch in a set of Xtensa port patches

Xtensa BUILDROOT uses a concept of source overlays,
which are necessary because Xtensa processors are
configurable and extensible. Xtensa tools, e.g.
gcc, gdb, and binutils, use source overlays, which
can not be substituted by the current BUILDROOT
patching mechanism. This update makes patch-kernel.sh
script capable of handling these overlays.

It's similar to the other source based embedded rootfs projects
(Openembedded, ptxdist, openwrt, ..). We do have a bit more focus on
busybox/uclibc than the others because of our tighter connection to
those projects.

continuing on with the make seems to be a usable workaround.

More userfriendliness would certainly be good, but the NTPL support is work in
progress, and the option is mainly there for easy testing. The help text says:

Not all thread variants work with all versions of uClibc,
the "linuxthreads (stable/old)" may be a working fallback
if you need threading at all.

Do you have any suggestions on how to make this more clear?

Regarding your build issues: Please make sure you are building from a clean
tree (do a new checkout or run rm -rf *build_*)

why gives the make menuconfig me the possibility to configure that, if it can
not work?
