Building Gnome from CVS (or SVN?)

Hi

I have seen that so many packages in their trunk version don't even
compile in the last stable gnome version (that is 2.22 for my
ArchLinux). So I would like to install the latest gnome version from the
source code.

I have read how to compile the Gnome latest packages from source code
[1] , but it looks like so old-fashioned (Gnome now is using SVN instead
of CVS). I know how to use the SVN but I don't know anything about CVS
(looks like too much complex than the SVN). There is an actualized
version of this page with SVN instead of CVS ?

Thanks in advance

Currently the easiest way to build gnome is
http://live.gnome.org/Jhbuild or
http://www.gnome.org/projects/garnome/ though I never tried Garnome.

Good luck,
Rui

Instead doing it hard way, you can build Gnome from SVN using jhbuild
build tool which knows how to deal with dependencies. Find more about
jhbuild at http://library.gnome.org/devel/jhbuild/2.23/

Bye,
Goran

Thanks, but I think I will try the Gnome Developer Kit.

I have tried to use the jhbuild, but I received some compilations errors
in a simple $ jhbuild bootstrap. I think it is something with my
distribution (archlinux) and the jhbuild.
