Bulletins Plugin???

Hello,

I've looked around and have not found what I'm looking for. On our regular
mail server, which is a pop3 server, we use qpopper for pop3. Anyway,
qpopper has a function to send bulletins out. This is a great way to let
our clients know stuff we need to tell them on a mass scale.

Is there a plugin on SM that will do the same type of thing, send out
bulletins to everyone?

Thanks,

Ken

Message of the Day (MOTD) is part of SquirrelMail and can be configured as
everything else. It'll show a message when the users are logged in.

There is also plugins for showing messages at the login page, i.e. before
logging in.

If you want to mail a message to all your users you'll have to find some
other mean to mail your users (maybe a mailing list or some functionality
in your IMAP/SMTP server). There's no SquirrelMail plugin that I know of
providing this feature (unless you have someone to code it for you).

I have one I made a while ago but didn't publish.  Not sure if/when I
will, but you can ask me about it offlist.  Like Fredrik said, a
mailing list is a much more prudent solution to this problem.

Those are *not* the strengths of mailman.  If your accounts are
already being managed in another fashion (/etc/passwd or in a virtual
data store) and your primary use of mailman is to send notifications
to those users,  user maintenance in mailman becomes an extra,
repetitive task that is hard to keep in synch.  (The plugin I made
addresses that hassle, but not the following...)

Any mailing list manager's strengths are more about how they send mass
quantities of mail and handle responses.
