CF 8 & Snow Leopard

Hi,
I am planning to update to Snow Leopard on Friday and was wondering if anybody has installed CF 8 on Snow Leopard and had any issues?

I had a few snags getting the multiserver running with apache with leopard, and just wanted to ask if there is anything that I should be careful about to avoid problems such as the java updates or anything.

Thanks,
Johnny`-`

I saw several people on Twitter say that the CF8 installer will not
run on Snow Leopard (but I got the impression that if you had CF8
already installed, it would still run after the upgrade).

Sean, mine runs fine after the upgrade. I had it installed already
when I upgraded.

I might just uninstall and test it out as a fresh install.  too busy
to do now though.

Hi Will,
Thanks for you r reply!
I checkout your blog, and yes I think that Snow Leopard is not a major
upgrade, like from tiger to leopard, but I am still concerned as I
can't spend the ay with CF`-`
I am thinking about doing a clean install,  even when I transfered
everything from mac to mac(using Leopard) the worst that happened was
that I lost my acphe settings along with the user apaches httd.config
files, which if that is the worst thing, that is nothing to complain
about`-`

Thank again,

Hey Sean,
this is interesting. I have heard of some issues with softwares with
Snow Leopard, like Flex 3 will not install, and so I am concerned
about any CF issues.
I am hoping to do a clean install, and hopefully everything goes
smooth`-`

Thanks,

flex 3 runs fine, cfbuilder runs fine and Railo is smoking in snow leopard!

What is weird tho is that cfbuilder & flex builder wouldn't run on my leopard when I moved from java 1.5 to 1.6 and it was said that they needed 1.5 but SL only has 1.6 and they run fine.. go figure.

I am happy to say that all went fine with ColdFuson after upgrading to Snow Leopard`-`

However, it killed MySQL!
Does anybody know how I can get MySQl back? Or should I just re install it, and forget about the data? I was using the 32 bit version, should I upgrade this tothe 64 bit version of MySQL?

Thanks,
John

Yes, you should. There's a 64 bit version for IntelMac available for
download at mysql.com.

Hi,
Thanks!
I have downloaded the 64 version of MySQL, installed fine, but I can't
get it started. I have tried everything. I even installed the install
on start up, re started a few times, but no MySQL.
Thanks,
John

There's an issue with sym links, I think.  Sorry I forgot to mention
this.  I did a google and here's the first result that shows up:

Hi,
I went through this one:  http://wordpress.org/support/topic/306878
I went through all of this, and still will not work. I deleted all MySQL and I guess I will have to figure out how to compile mysql!
I don't get it Leopard was easy! Download install the package, install the start up script, and no worries, I was up and running in about 10 minutes.

I have been trying to figure this out since yesterday.

I would get rid of MySQL all together, but I did a db server for ColdFusion that also work on my host.
This has turned into a nightmare.

Thanks so much for all your help, I really appreciated it very much. I have never been so stressed out trying to get something working like this.
It seems to me, that MySQL (64 bit version) does install, but then you can't get it to run, and the MySQL preference pane does not work as well.

I did install the 64 bit, but the preference pane thinks that it is the 32 bit version.

Thanks again, and sorry for ranting,
John

I got it working`-`
I downloaded  mysql-5.1.38-osx10.5-x86_64.dmg
installed the server, and start up script and everything worked great.
No problems at all, took about 5 minutes`-`
Not sure what was going on, but am just happy that I got everything
working`-`
Thanks,

Weird - I didn't have to download anything. The only thing that broke
for me was the symlink, or the path, or somehting like that. I fixed
that and MySQL ran just fine.

Hi Ray,
Yeah today will be the third re install to try to get Snow Leopard
working with all the adobe programs.
Seems like a lot of people have had a much easier time getting Snow
Leopard working. If today does not work well I will just go back to
Leopard.
