Cache with Disk Copy

Hi,

I'm using EHCache to build a distributed Cache for a somewhat critical
software that needs to persist its data at all costs during its time
of validity.
Is there any way to make something like a WriteThrough Cache by
configuration?

I was able to get a WriteThrough Cache making an EventListener that
makes puts of the New or Updated Elements directly to the DiskStore.
Will this drop to much the Cache performance? Are this elements
persisted to disk synchronously during the Puts or asynchronously by a
working thread?

Thanks in an advance,
                                Carlos Lopes.
