Does the PointSymbolizer support svgs? If not, are there any hints on how to improve the quality of the point symbols so they don't look so bad. For the current state of SVG support see: http://trac.mapnik.org/ticket/320 I believe there is a patch attached there which may work for you but the code may not yet be stable.
