Can't Update Some Categories

[ KMM v1.0.2;  Ubuntu 9.04 ]

Weird!

After importing a bunch of transactions (e.g., from a credit card), I
began to manually select all transactions with the same/similar payee
and assign a category to them.

Sometimes the "Enter" icon is enable, but other times not.  In the
latter case, I (of course) can't update those transactions.

I looked in my archived KMM ML letters, but didn't find anything that
helped me.

Might this a case of "operator error"?    ;-)

Please advise is more info is needed!

Thanks for any ideas,

I recall something similar on one of the kmymoney mailing list. Check
that the account opening date is prior to the imported transaction's
(the one that you can't edit) post date.

That's one of the checks. In case you select multiple transactions, none of
them must be a split transaction. Editing split transactions only works one
at a time (yes, it's a known limitation).

Bingo!  A couple of other ML members replied similarly ...

As often happens, I thought about the situation a bit more after
sending my letter ... and noticed that, in fact, I *could* update
transactions who's date was after the account "opening date", but
could not for those before.

Then everyone's comments came in, confirming my hunch.

Thanks to all who replied!
