Tried it, didn't work.

I can't help with the error, but I just installed 1.0.7.20090805 under
Win7 Pro x64 and it worked fine.

I first installed the Motorola x64 drivers v4.0.0. (The MSI download
won't install under Win7; you have to install the drivers manually. See
here for details:
http://www.sevenforums.com/drivers/2567-motorola-phone-drivers.html#post25122)

I then installed BitPim, ran it, browsed to my phone on COM3 and loaded
the phone book.

(I don't think it should matter, but my system already had Python 2.5
and 2.6 installed...)
