Cannot shrink main window

Installed SmartCVS Foundation 7.0.4 on a 32-bit Intel box
running Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex Linux with
java version "1.6.0_10"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_10-b33)
Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 11.0-b15, mixed mode)


The main window opens up very large (80% of a 1920x1200 screen)
and cannot be shrunk.  It can be enlarged further but it will not  shrink
below its initial (large size).   All the sub windows do
render properly within it.

Any idea as to what is going on?

I've already tried setting AWT_TOOLKIT to MToolkit and XToolkit

The problem does not occur with SmartSVN 5.02, so I think
it is an application, and not a toolkit issue.
