Card Conditions/Collecting Chaotic Cards

I just got into chaotic and love the game but am also into collecting and preserving some of the more valuable cards.  I've noticed something though, annoyingly often the valuable super rare cards have imperfections on them even fresh out of the pack.  These are in the form of a scuffed edge, or a slight nick, they are small scuffs or nicks (like a white dot very small) or small scuff like a slightly raised edge.  In the world of collecting can anyone tell me how serious these imperfections are and if they affect the value of the cards very much?  (I've also noticed this in Yugioh, sometimes there is a slight piece of the cardboard surface that tears off partially)
