CentOS/Postfix: graphs display no content [followup]

Gentlemen,
As a followup, I am also getting the strange occurrence of ,cgi in
/tmp/mailgraph mentioned previously on this list.
Deleting it serves no purpose, because it's immediately recreated of course.
Additionally, no httpd/error_log messages are being generated.
Ideas? Suggestions?

Regards & TIA,
-Colin

I am a newbie to mailgraph. got it working a couple of
weeks ago on a freebsd box with (much appreciated!)
help from this list and from the freebsd port
maintainer.

the install in freebsd seems similar to yours:
- /var/log/maillog
- ,cgi-bin directory in /tmp/mailgraph

and it works.

here are a couple of pointers, maybe they help ?

1. what is the permission of /var/log/maillog and to
which user/group is it assigned?

in FreeBSD I had to edit the appropriate line in
/etc/newsyslog.conf so that when the file is rotated
the new, empty file is accessible to the user running
mailgraph.

2. what is the content of /tmp/mailgraph/,cgi-bin/ ?
are there png files in there or not ?

regards
Yuv

Hey, thanks for the response!!
SELinux is not enabled.
But - there has been a change - After additional thrashing around, graphing
*is* now taking place, except that daily stats are being graphed to the
yearly graph!!
I would surmise that destroying the rrc db's and recreating them might
perhaps remedy the problem - can't hurt to try anyway. What I was unaware of
until now, was the existence of /var/cache/mailgraph on some installations -
but on this installation it isn't there.
Oh well, here goes nothing :)

Regards,
-Colin

I saw your posts to the list indeed. Congrats on getting it working

Hehe, I'm getting daily stats written to the yearly graph...so I guess you
could say that - in some way - it's working :)

here are a couple of pointers, maybe they help ?

/var/log/maillog is root:root and as of today 644

in FreeBSD I had to edit the appropriate line in

Well, in this case, that would be logrotate which accepts post-rotate
commands

2. what is the content of /tmp/mailgraph/,cgi-bin/ ?

Yep there are .png's in there for sure, with mod dates of minutes ago, the
last time the age was reloaded and images generated

Colin,

I created the following doc as part of my disaster recovery procedures to
rebuild my CentOS 4.4 mail server (mailgraph included).  This is for
version 1.12, but it should work exactly the same for 1.14.

http://www.rynogear.com/Installing%20MailGraph%20on%20CentOS.pdf

Regards,

Ryan

Hey Ryan,
That's a great document!! Thanks for submitting it to the list
I was nowhere near as methodical as you were, but once I read through the
doc and compared it with the (ultimate) outcome of my thrashing around -
whether by good luck or good judgment - what I did seemed to amount to the
same end result.
What is happening now utterly defies explanation. Mailgraph seems to be
looking at the maillog and grabbing stats from March/April of this year, and
ignoring May/June/July/August. I can't begin to get my head around that,
it's bizarre.

/me is baffled.

Regards & Thanks!!

Mailgraph takes it time to work through old logs. Give it time, and it
should work its way up to the current day and time.
