The manual blithely tells me to place the bike on the center stand, but that's five hundred pounds of bike and I'm a 58 year-old man with a rotten back and wrecked knees. I'm also no good at levitation. How on earth do you get that sucker up on that stand by yourself? Is there some secret to it?

Problem solved! Further searching found a tutorial on YouTube that went through the process one step at a time. When I was younger, I would just pop them up there with main force, but now more finesse is called for. I found that using my right leg for the strength of the lift instead of my right arm did the trick nicely. Place both feet of the center stand on the deck evenly and after gripping the bike with the left hand on the handlebars and the right hand on the frame rail under the edge of the seat, push down with the right foot as you guide the bike up. It's a snap! I surprised myself with how easily it went up, and that's one less thing bothering me.

Great! Glad you found the solution. Lots of leg and a little rocking usually does the trick..

Cool that you were able to do it. Remember that leverage is much more powerful that brute force...
