to solve this issue it should look something similar to:

In fact the widget still works. The widget opens a pop up with a warning:

# ERROR: Invalid Context file
# Error retrieving remote file (), please ensure the URL is correct

but I wanted the URLs to works.

Why not use ms_GetVersionInt() instead of parsing the version string?

I used the doc found here and didn't know this function:

Daniel you're right, the "if" should be:
if(($nVersion >= 0x41004) || ($nVersion >= 0x50202))

and:

$nVersion = intval($aszDigits[0], 8)*0x010000;
$nVersion += intval($aszDigits[1],8)*0x0100;

need to be:

$nVersion = intval($aszDigits[0], 16)*0x010000;
$nVersion += intval($aszDigits[1],16)*0x0100;

but I chose the simpler:

fwrite( $hTemplate, "\n".$szTemplate );

Can we make it so that the widget can still work if the documents are not
found? If they are required then they could possibly be hosted on the
maptools.org server instead of dev1.dmsolutions.ca.

Another note: this fix will be broken if we ever release a 4.10.5+... and I
believe the tests in the 'if' should use hex values instead of the current
notation which is actually octal since the numbers start with zeros?

Why not use ms_GetVersionInt() instead of parsing the version string? Is it
because the function was added in MS 5.0.0 and Chameleon still needs to support
MapServer 4.10.x?

Another option might be to use a HTML comment for the line that we add, and
then we may not need to worry about the version check?

"MapServer Template" string have to be in query template for the MapTips widget
in the MapServer version greaer than 5.x.x.

Julien provided a dirty fix which is:

fwrite( $hTemplate, "MapServer Template\n".$szTemplate );
ligne 437 de MapTips.widget.php

A better fix will be to add a test to detect the MapServer version and add this
string to the query template if the version is greater than 5.x.x (have to ask
which version to developer).

query widget and linking out from QueryResults.phtml

Hi all,

I am trying to use the formatValue() function in the Query widget but
cannot seem to get the return to create a hyperlink. I have added a
column called link_out to my table (PostGIS), assigned a value (eg,
http://mapserver1/remwms/links/townsville-flood.jpg) to a couple of
rows/objects but the return in the query results widget is just the url.

The code looks fine for the formatValue() function so I assume I am
missing something basic.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

For the short term I have changed the error_reporting value in chameleon.php of
the Chameleon-MS4W package...so at least the samples work, but there are many
other hardcoded error_reporting values.

PHP 5.3.0's new runtime deprecated notices are a show-stopper for Chameleon
because Chameleon code actually sets the error_reporting() value in
chameleon.php (and other files) to show ALL errors (over-riding any setting in
php.ini to not show deprecated notices) - and this litters the page with
deprecated notices, causing no map to appear.

Hi guys,

I am trying to place my layer's metadata in the pop-up generated when
clicking on the LegendTemplate widgets' hotlink with no success so far.
I know the tag in the legend template but cannot parse it through to the
legendinfo.phtml. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

The Academic community and FOSS4G organising committee are pleased to
add an academic track to the FOSS4G conference, and remind interested
presenters that there are only two weeks left for FOSS4G abstract
submissions! Abstract submission closes 8 June 2009. (Note the
deadline has been extended a week.) http://2009.foss4g.org/presentations/

The Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial conference (FOSS4G),
is being held in Sydney, Australia October 20-23. http://2009.foss4g.org
The academic track will act as an inventory of current research topics
and promote cooperative research between OSGeo developers and the
academia. The academic track is the right forum to highlight the most
important research challenges and trends in the domain, and let them
became the basis for an informal OSGeo research agenda. It will foster
interdisciplinary discussions in all aspects of the geospatial and
free and open source domains. It aims to promote networking between
participants, initiate and favour discussions regarding cutting-edge
technologies in the field, exchange research ideas and promote
international collaboration.

All submissions to the academic track must be original unpublished
work written in English that is currently not under review elsewhere.
The submitted papers will be thoroughly reviewed by two to three
members of the international scientific committee and refereed for
their quality, originality and relevance. For further information,
please read the full call for research papers.

The Academic community and FOSS4G organising committee are pleased to
add an academic track to the FOSS4G conference, and remind interested
presenters that there are only two weeks left for FOSS4G abstract
submissions! Abstract submission closes 8 June 2009. (Note the

The Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial conference (FOSS4G),
is being held in Sydney, Australia October 20-23. http://2009.foss4g.org
The academic track will act as an inventory of current research topics
and promote cooperative research between OSGeo developers and the
academia. The academic track is the right forum to highlight the most
important research challenges and trends in the domain, and let them
became the basis for an informal OSGeo research agenda. It will foster
interdisciplinary discussions in all aspects of the geospatial and
free and open source domains. It aims to promote networking between
participants, initiate and favour discussions regarding cutting-edge
technologies in the field, exchange research ideas and promote
international collaboration.

All submissions to the academic track must be original unpublished
work written in English that is currently not under review elsewhere.
The submitted papers will be thoroughly reviewed by two to three
members of the international scientific committee and refereed for
their quality, originality and relevance. For further information,

slot. Presentations are open to all and comprises a 30 minute slot

technical and non technical. While the technology is a key part of the
conference, in 2009 we are very keen to have a good selection of case

First thing is to make sure your mapserver *and* PHP/MapScript are
working. You can get help on that from the MapServer-Users mailing-list.

Then the Chameleon installation should be fairly straight forward. Do
you have any error message.

This seems to be a known problem with this function in PHP5. I didn't have any problem with it in PHP4. My html file (defining the QuickZoom) has windows-1250 encoding specified. I don't know how this function detects input encoding but the output one can't be set to windows-1250. So I am looking for a workaround...maybe using iconv?

tabbed browsing within the application

Hi all,

I wish to have a tabbed browsing experience within my application using
css and <ul>, <li>. I am having trouble passing the page ID I set in my
initialisation files through to the body id tag of my template file.

The process I am using is to set the tabs up using html and the css.
Each tab is assigned an initialize.php file named according to the theme
of the data displayed. Each has the required map file and page ID
variable assigned within. When I click on the tab the correct map is
displayed but as the page ID is not passed to the template file for use
within the body ID tag, the colour of the tab does not change. If I
hard code the body ID in the template, the tab colour displays for that
tab but does not of course move when I click on another tab to change to
another map.

I hope this isn't to difficult to understand but I find it difficult to
explain in text.
Any ideas?

The old encoding problem in QuickZoom widget

Hi,

Two years ago I had problem with Quick Zoom widget not showing dropdown elements because of the wrong encoding. The problem was with PHP5, in PHP4 it worked correctly. Now I have migrated my Chameleon site to a new machine with newer MS4W and the problem happens again.

I am using windows-1250 encoding. It doesn't help if I replace the "invalid" character by its html encoded value, such as è for example. Is there a solution for this now in PHP5?

i find myself unable to get the print map option
to display my classes in its legend

note - all classes are named in the map file and do
diplay in the chameleon legend but not in the map print

Just an idea.

You could use the Maptips widget by modifying the GenerateImageMap()
function in MapTips.widget.php to set the href variable to
"$href='href="'.$this->mszLinkURL.$this->mszLinkUniqueIDValue.'" ';".
The $this->mszLinkURL variable value is the value you enter in the "Link
URL" field of the MapTips popup window, which could be a relative URL to
your application (e.g. "images/"). The "$this->mszLinkUniqueIDValue" is
deduced from "$this->mszLinkUniqueID" which is the value you select in
the second "Link URL" field. You will need to loop through the
attribute values to find out the value of the attribute pointed out by
$this->mszLinkUniqueID" variable.
