Our practice of immediately moving the previous stable version
into another directory (from 00-libpng-stable to libpng-stable
at SourceForge and from png/src to png/src/history at simplesystems)
has caused problems for downstream maintainers.
>From now on
The immediate past libpng-stable/1.2.X will be kept in the 00-libpng-stable
directory along with the current version at SourceForge, and the immediate
past libpng-1.2.X is now in the png/src directory at the ftp site instead of in
the png/src/history directory. This allows some time to settle before they
are moved, respectively, into the libpng-stable directory at SourceForge
and into the png/src/history directory at simplesystems.
I did not make any change to the layout of libpng_master, libpng_devel,
and libpng_legacy directories, where only the current version will be kept
as it is now, and moved immediately into another directory when replaced.
The only subdirectories that I moved are those for libpng-1.2.39, which
are now next to libpng-1.2.40.
