I am embarking on a project which will hopefully encompass Winboard.
Basically what I'd like to do is scan a chess diagram into the computer and process it into a Winboard position.
I don't know of many chess ocr capabilities, so it looks like writing my own. On one side of the screen I would like the imported chess image to fit into a data grid and the image split into squares. On denotion of what squares symbolise which pieces I would generate a PGN to be opened up and diplayed in the right hand side of the screen as a winboard chess position.
How can I use winboard in this way to program into my application. Also if you have any advice about Chess ocr / recognition please do offer it.
