A number of years ago I visited Chillingham Castle with my two sister in laws.We had been looking forward to going for sometime and was quite excited about the visit. We had heard about it being haunted but not in any detail so anything unusual happening would be completely out of the blue. We entered the door that leads to the inner courtyard and I had the most horrible feeling of dread, I felt as if the air had been sucked out and replaced with a menacing and very depressive atmosphere. My mood changed very quickly,I was on the verge of tears and was getting anxious to get out of the courtyard, my sister in laws could'nt understand what was the matter with me. I laughed it off and enjoyed the rest of the visit, until I came back into the courtyard, the atmosphere hit me like a smack in the face and as a result I suffered a bad panick attack, the staff were marvellous and I ended my day feeling a bit silly. May I add I am not a person who suffers from anything like this normally, As much as I enjoyed Chillingham I could'nt possibly go back in that courtyard.
