Is CiviCRM going to apply to be a mentoring organization in the 2008 Summer of Code program? I'll volunteer to mentor a student or two. :)

Hi Wes,

See this thread:

http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,2511.0.html

One of the issue seems to be not enough (any ?) students

Do you have students/projects already ?

:) I was thinking the same thing. You can also work with another
mentoring organization. Last year Joomla! mentored projects in
cooperation with Eclipse and Mootools. If you were interested in
teaming up,  I think I could put you in touch with the right people.

Hi Elin. I also think it's a great idea.

Not sure how many folks we'll get.... you might need to somehow advertise the "cool factor" (that so many organizations need civiCRM functionality.)

Best,

Margie

I’m going to be meeting with some local profs, one of whom has coordinated a bunch of student volunteers for SoC before. I’d love to mentor some students for CiviCRM as well as Drupal.

We decided to join forces with Joomla! and proposed to add the below
to Joomla!’s SoC 2008 ideas (and we’re open to expand the list):

Better, tighter CiviCRM/Joomla! integration. In particular, making
CiviCRM Joomla! 1.5 native, synchronising with email table and
registration process, etc.

Multi-language support for CiviCRM.

Multi-currency support for CiviCRM + QuickBooks API integration.

Multi-person registration support for CiviEvent.

Variable pricing support for CiviEvent.

To clarify: Joe, we’re really happy for your mentorship offer, and we’ll
be more than happy to add your ideas to the list offered to Joomla!

Do let me/us know what would you like to mentor about and whether you
have any specified ideas that we could add to the list right away.
