Claw Tub

I have a 180 pound 14y/o boy with Myelo (complete Para) who just moved
to an apartment with a claw tub.  They are tight financially and are in
a situation where they cannot move.  The claw tub height is 22 inches
from the floor over the edge of the tub.  He is a mod assist transfer
laterally with a Beasy board.   He propels a GTX with a Jay cushion and
a TA upholstery.  He performs his bowel program in the tub (with a pan)
then bathes afterward.  Mom threw away the old tub seat (says she
did...) because it would not work and now needs a new one.

Any suggestions on bath seats/ benches with commode openings that will
have greater than 22 inch clearance?

Thank you in advance.

It is not ideal, but could you use a regular Tub Transfer Bench with
some sort of platform on the floor for the outside legs to sit on?  You
need to check the dimensions to see if the depth inside the tub could be
accommodated with a standard TTB.

Another though is to see if you can find longer legs for a standard
bench.  The legs are height adjustable, and they look similar to the
legs on a walker.  I don't know if they are interchangeable, but it is
worth a shot if a walker's legs would give you more height.

Yet another thought is to use a Hoyer lift to get him in/out of the tub.
Again, you would have to check the measurements, but you might be able
to get the base underneath and transfer that way.  Yes, it is more work,
but it might be the only option at this point?

Just my thoughts...

In the middle of this page there are leg extensions for transfer tub bench. You only need two- for the legs outside the tub.
