Color terms

I recently came across the following dissertation, which has the title
"COLLOCATION AND CONNOTATION:  A Corpus-Based Investigation Of Colour
Words In English And Italian":

    http://amsacta.cib.unibo.it/2266/1/Thesis.pdf

It begins with a survey of articles and discussions about colors
from ancient times to the present and their uses in metaphors
and metonyms.

It discusses many issues that are significant for systems that
deal with concepts represented in multiple languages, analyze
them, translate them, and reason about them.

Re: Color terms / Logic connector language

I wonder if basic logic connectors (for example: BEGIN; IF...THEN; OR; ALL; NONE; NOT; ALWAYS; END) are easily translated across most natural languages.  My guess is "no."

This seems important because non-language diagrams based on extremely simple users' rules might be a more convenient/ successful way of representing complex logic relationships like those in all the valid user paths/ streets in complex systems.  The example I have in mind is FLIPP Explainers which use non-verbal logic framework structures where neither words nor (usually) arrows are used as connectors of user 'do' blocks--the only kind of blocks used inside the framework structures.

The complex rules that languages use are detoured around--like bypassing the complex street structures in cities by traveling on super highways that many users find more satisfying. This, in turn, is important if one sees systems as being for their customers.

Ideas and experiences, please?
