Complex eigenvalue extraction in Brake SquealDear All,
I am doing prediction of brake squeal using complex eigenvalue extraction in Abaqus/Standard 6.8. (CAE) The analysis completely done, but the real part of the system are zero for all mode.. What are the possible mistake that i made? Anyone can help?? Thanks You. Cyteoh |

Re: Complex eigenvalue extraction in Brake Squealcould you give the step to rotate the the disc.
you should use *motion card instead of *boundary please take a look my phd thesis in the website given under my signature ABD. Re: Complex eigenvalue extraction in Brake SquealHi ABD. RAHIM,
I used boundary condition to rotate the disc in static analysis. kindly refer to the attach input file. Please advise.. Looking forward for ur reply... Thanks.. Cyteoh Brake.inp |

Re: Complex eigenvalue extraction in Brake Squealreplace in the 2nd step i.e
*Boundary, op=NEW, type=VELOCITY _PickedSet402, 5, 5, 10. with *motion, rotation, type=velocity _PickedSet402, 10, x1,y1,z1,x2,y2,z2 you need to speficy points of rotational axis (x1,y1,z1,x2,y2,z2) these points can be obtained from cae. Re: Complex eigenvalue extraction in Brake SquealHi Abd. Rahim,
I follow your instruction to replace in the 2nd step *Boundary, op=NEW, type=VELOCITY _PickedSet402, 5, 5, 10. with *motion, rotation, type=velocity _PickedSet402, 10, 0,0,0,0,50,0 Brake.inp but the result still the same. The 'effective damping ratio' and 'real part' of the eigenvalues still zero for all modes.. I run the .inp file in Abaqus command window with command 'abaqus interation job=brake.inp Hope you will give more advise. Thanks for your help.. Regards, Cyteoh

Re: Complex eigenvalue extraction in Brake Squealthen you should select the entire disc for rotation and constrain all boltholes.
you cannot use reference point (RF) to tie with the boltholes. there is example for simulating brake squeal in abaqus documentation. please put efforts to find it. there is no easy way in solving a problem.
