Controlling visibility of printed output after end selection

It appears that in v11, there is no event firing for "blank" lines in  
a subform (for printing) of fixed height.

So, how do you control the visibility of objects you don't want to see  
if there isn't a record? I've messed with the "visibility" settings  
under the Display theme of the subform to no apparent effect. Of  
course this is printing, not display...
