Converge Issues using *KINEMATIC COUPLING

Dear all,

Has anybody encountered convergence issues when using *KINEMATIC COUPLING?

Here's my problem:

I am doing a nonlinear (Material only, *PLASTIC) quasi-static analysis on a engine cradle.

The model is made of S4 and S3 elements.

Loads are applied remotely (at the bushing mounts) and transferred onto the cradle using *KINEMATIC COUPLING (DOF 1 thru 6).

The analysis has some converging issues right from the start (does not complete the first time step). Keeping all parameters constant, I changed *KINEMATIC at one location and replaced it with C3DX elements. The simulations seemed to be more stable, but still fails to converge after t step not equal to zero.

Any comments?

Can this be load transfer be modeled using *EQUATION instead?

Your help is much appreciated.

Thank you,
