Cost of calling 0845 numbers

It has come to notice that the cost of calling a 0845 number (the non emergency calls to Police) will be increasing by up to 80%.   It seems to be grossly unfair that members of the public, i.e. Neighbourhood Watch has to bear the cost of reporting information and/or inteligence to the local Police when an alternative and cheaper number could well be available for example 0100, 0200 or 0300 which I am given to understand is charged at local call rate.   Your comments please
