It has recently been confirmed by the WLO that each time you dial the 0845 telephone number to report non urgent matters, the Police take a small percentage of the cost of you making that call.   This is because it is refered to a Lo-Call number, not permium rate but still more expensive than ordinary call rate.   I consider this to be an inposition and grossly unfair practice by the Police, especially when they could adopt an alternative number which would only be charged at the local call rate.   I for one will think twice before dialing this number in the future.   Your comments please.

There is a scandal of money making from 0845 Calls. If the Police are not making a fortune from these calls. They are making it for the Telephone providers. For a Public service this is not fair as many users are forced to call these numbers. The public have paid for the service already through Council and Central Taxes.

Whatever you do - never call the Operator for assistance. On Sky for instance the operator charge is £10.30 and if the call is connected to 0845. The Call Charge is £2.40 per minute.

www.neighbourhoodpolicing.org.uk is endeavouring to change matters and display any changes to Police telephone numbers. But some Police Forces are digging in to keep 0845 Rip Offs and will offer weak reason to retain them.
