Learn more about Nabble's security policy. Does Courier IMAP have username length restriction? I created two virtual accounts: alexander and alexander.erameh using USERDB. Telnet localhost 143 a login alexander password (This works) However, Telnet localhost 143 A login alexander.erameh password (I get the message a NO Login failed) Both accounts successfully connect to POP3 (Telnet localhost 110). Another thing to note is that when I run AUTHTEST alexander.erameh password, I am successfully authenticated. So why is IMAP not accepting the alexander.erameh account and POP3 accepts it? With this kind of response, how can we learn? 	Re: Courier IMAP by Bowie Bailey :: Rate this Message: Reply to Author \| View Threaded \| Show Only this Message Sam tends to be a bit terse in his replies, but since he is the developer, his answers are (almost) always right. :) All of my accounts authenticate with the full email address (user@...), so I don't see a problem with "user.name". Double-check the settings in your IMAP client, and if you don't see anything there, try using wireshark to sniff the connection so you can see exactly what the conversation looks like. If you've set up your server with maildirs check if alexander.erameh's directory is already created before telneting port 110. Why don't you post your server log, specially authdaemon's log, so we can see what's happening and give you some help. As a suggestion, be sure to be more technical and specific rather than being writing just words. When authentication fails, courier-imapd should generate a message in syslog. Please find that message (or a group of 2 or 3 messages possibly) and post that so we can see exactly why the authentication is failing.
