The sources JAR
http://mirrors.ibiblio.org/pub/mirrors/maven2/javax/servlet/servlet-api/2.3/servlet-api-2.3-sources.jardoes not contain e.g. the interface javax.servlet.Filter.
It seems that the 2.3 version has accidentally gotten its sources from 2.2. At least the hashes of servlet-api-2.3-sources.jar and servlet-api-2.2-sources.jar are identical:
