Csound Piece with a BanjoHi there list,
I have just posted an mp3 on my myspace site which uses Csound in a small way and wanted to share it. It's not particularly highbrow but you might find it amusing, it's a rather poignant duet for Banjo and Theremin. I modelled the theremin in Csound (not complicated) and played it with a MIDI keyboard, recording it live into Ardour via Jack, so no Csound score exists. The piece is called "Poor Little Robot" www.myspace.com/josephsanger Comments are welcome of course! Thanks, Joe -- Send bugs reports to this list. Re: Csound Piece with a BanjoHi Joe,
Thats really cool. Your theremin instrument sounds excellent. I've recently been trying to build a theremin using the wii controller, max and csound and while its working it sounds terrible. I'd love to see your orchestra for this if that was possible?? Re: Csound Piece with a BanjoVery nice. The instrumentation works great with the simple theme,
very straightforward and catchy. I've been toying with the idea of running Csound and Pure Data on a laptop, with a small knobs/faders MIDI controller and my electric banjo both running into the laptop, and all three hanging from my body while I pick, turn knobs, and code. Unfortunately I am on crutches with a broken metatarsal, so it's a ways off, but it's coming. -Chuckk On 4/22/07, Joseph Sanger <joseph.sanger@...> wrote: > Hi there list, > > I have just posted an mp3 on my myspace site which uses Csound in a > small way and wanted to share it. Re: Csound Piece with a BanjoHi there Chuckk and Eamon,
Thank you for your kind comments! Eamon: I will post a copy of the csd to the list, but I've just had a look at it and, typically for me, there are no annotations and it's really messy... I'm a bit embarrassed to post it, so give me a day or two to tidy it up! However, if your theremin SOUNDS wrong - I googled around for a bit searching for the waveform and basically its a half sine wave - i.e. just the first half above zero, a peak with no trough. Apparently this is what gives the theremin it's distinctive timbre (but I'm no expert). That was pretty easy with one of the gen routines. Hope that helps. Chuckk: I'm sure it's utterly unfeasible for all kinds of reasons, but it would be great to have a jam some day! I made a kind of fretless electric 5-string, very primitive, but clawhammer sounds great through a valve amp... Hope you recover swiftly, Joe Chuckk Hubbard wrote: > Very nice.
