Job title:  Research Associates x2

Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology / Faculty of Medicine

Salary £26,720 - £38,930 pro rata per annum

St Mary's campus

Two exciting positions have become available within the MRC Centre for Outbreak Analysis and Modelling at Imperial College London. The MRC Centre is building upon a world-leading research group in the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology at Imperial College to undertake applied collaborative work with national and international agencies in support of policy planning and response operations against emerging infectious disease threats. The successful candidates will be members of both the Centre and the Department, and will be based at the St Mary's Hospital campus, Paddington.

The post holders will work on a Defra-funded project extending past analyses of the Randomised Badger Culling Trial. This project will investigate evidence of seasonality in TB infection incidence, estimate the impact of badger culling on infection incidence, examine the impact of individual herd variables on the effects of proactive badger culling and continue monitoring of TB incidence of cattle herds in RBCT areas. The post holders will be supervised by Professor Christl Donnelly.

The successful applicants will have a PhD or equivalent in statistics, epidemiology, mathematics, population biology or a related discipline. Experience of statistical analysis (ideally using SAS software), and excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.

Both posts are full time for a fixed-term until 30.09.10 in the first instance

For informal enquiries please contact Professor Christl Donnelly (c.donnelly@...<mailto:c.donnelly@...>).

Priority consideration will be given to staff at risk of redundancy
