DNS issuesHi,
I'll recap the DNS errors we currently experience: - ns1.gnu.org refuses requests for dl.sv.gnu.org: $ host dl.sv.gnu.org ns1.gnu.org Using domain server: Name: ns1.gnu.org Address: 199.232.41.12#53 Aliases: Host dl.sv.gnu.org.formation.cliss21.org not found: 5(REFUSED) - audio-video neither: $ host audio-video.gnu.org ns1.gnu.org Using domain server: Name: ns1.gnu.org Address: 199.232.41.12#53 Aliases: Host audio-video.gnu.org.formation.cliss21.org not found: 5(REFUSED) - ns4.gnu.org lags (last version is oct 16) and thus is interfering with our IP changes. - ns1.gnu.org doesn't replicate changes from savannah-backup.gnu.org immediately - it looks like there's something like an hourly refresh or something, while the TTL is 300 and the notification is sent immediatley, so we'd like to understand how it works. Cheers, -- Sylvain |

I had a "site not found" error again today when going to audio-video.gnu.org, for instance. I suppose all these issues are related, so I'm opening one ticket for each, but feel free to split the ticket if that's more convenient. -- Sylvain |

[gnu.org #447573] method to update dns for savannah-hackersHi Sylvain, > [beuc - Sun Nov 01 12:38:26 2009]: > > - ns4.gnu.org lags (last version is oct 16) and thus is interfering > > with our IP changes. I've been trying for weeks to get in contact with the person running ns4. They are non-responsive so far. I tried again today, and have removed ns4 from our list or nameservers for now. So this should be resolved now. Thanks, Ward. -- Ward Vandewege <ward@...> Free Software Foundation - Senior System Administrator |

They have updated their config, so I re-added them. Thanks, Ward. -- Ward Vandewege <ward@...> Free Software Foundation - Senior System Administrator |

I believe this was the last of the outstanding DNS issues. I have just gone over the gnu.org and nongnu.org zone files once more and made double sure there were no longer any records in there that belong in your zone files. I found a number of them but I believe they should mostly have been covered in your zone files already. Anyway; if something is suddenly missing you can add it to your own zonefiles... Let us know if you have any further problems. Thanks, Ward. -- Ward Vandewege <ward@...> Free Software Foundation - Senior System Administrator |
