Debian, Perl and FOSDEM

Hi,

some of you might have read that I am trying to organize some Perl content
to show on FOSDEM and to have a Perl stand where we can show Perl and
projects written in Perl.

I am not sure if the Perl projects warrant to have a separate dev-room
but I think it might be interesting to have Perl related talks in the
other dev-rooms and to have a booth where we can talk about Perl.

Last year there was a Debian dev-room
http://archive.fosdem.org/2009/schedule/devrooms/debian
and I guess there will be one this year as well.
So I wonder if any of you would be interested in submitting a talk to
such dev-room?

In addition if you are coming to FOSDEM, will you be able to help us
with the stand? The organizers require to have at least two person all the time
so we are planning to split up the 2 days among several people.

Here is the blog I wrote about this:
http://szabgab.com/blog/2009/10/1255696000.html

regards
  Gabor

I would be interested to be present there. However, I cannot tell yet
whether I'm scheduled for a customer's visit at that time or not.

Hi,

I should be attending FOSDEM next year.

Why not proposing a talk about the perl team projects in the debian-room ?

I will mostly spend my time in the debian-room and helping with de debian booth.
But I could try to find some free time to help a perl booth too, if there is such
a booth organized..

Hope to meet you and perl team members during this event and share some beers ;)

Greetings,

FOSDEM is probably the second biggest debian conference of the year,
the first biggest being DebConf. I am certain debian will have a dev
room again.

I would, I think this is a great idea Gabor. Let me know how I can help.

I spent Sunday afternoon in the debian room last year and would like
to help out again there this year, but I would be happy to spend time
in either a dev room or at a booth for perl - so count me in. :) The
booths are really just desks in the hallway where there are thousands
of people passing by. (I don't know if you have been to FOSDEM
before.) The dev rooms are much better and probably the only way to
have a talk. If we get a dev room I imagine it will be one of the
smaller ones so it should be perfect for the first year. What is hard
is getting enough people to talk. But, put me down for one.

That would be cool.

Likewise! :-)

I should be coming to FOSDEM this year (even though HP current plans with its
workforce may jeopardize my presence there :-/ )

If you are not bored with Config::Model, I could give a talk like the one I
gave for French Perl Workshop. I could also cover the ideas I have regarding
package upgrades helped by Config::Model.

No problem to help there.

All the best

So the plan of the FOSDEM organizers is that there won't be a Debian
or Fedora room but there
will be some Distribution MiniConf.

Would you be interested in a joint session with the Perl group of
Fedora and Perl+CPAN
packagers from other distros (if they have some?)
