Debian Linux/Mono still a problem?

As a follow-up to this post, will there be some resolution?

I attempted to install the Tao 2.0 framework on Ubuntu 7.10, and had
similar problems.

According to the INSTALL file, it recommends using GNU Make as the
preferred build method, but there's no Makefile, but there is
autotools.sh, build.sh, and make.sh.

After running chmod +x on other/Prebuild/prebuild, I get the following results:
