Deprecated in compiler plugin

Hello all,

if I read the description of the maven-compiler-plugin 2.0.2 every
option is marked deprecated

$ mvn help:describe
-Dplugin=org.apache.maven.plugins:maven-compiler-plugin -Ddetail
...
     source
       The -source argument for the Java compiler.
       Deprecated. No reason given
...

Why is that? What should I use instead?

Forget it. Actually the help plugin reports currently any parameter as
deprecated.
