Hi!

Due to monday being a holiday (and me still being on the road) we're going to hold the dev meeting on Tuesday this week:

We've got our weekly dev chat on Tuesday September 8 on   IRC
in  #musicbrainz-devel on irc.freenode.net . We're going to meet for
about 1 hour at 8pm UK, 9pm mainland  europe, THREE pm EST, NOON PST.

We'll review our progress on NGS, the release editor and plan for our upcoming test phase...

This may seem preposterous, expensive, or not really the way things work
with the Summit Sessions - but has anyone given any thought to an
attempt to to E-enable the gathering with audio bridges/conferences?
Alternatively, recording proceedings with an iPhone or other device to
be uploaded later? Or would recording affect the "tone" of the event
negatively?

Excuse my ignorance - I've only ever looked at the wiki pages afterwards
as an indicator of what goes on at the Summits, so I probably have no
idea. :-)

I'm not sure about others, but I'd be interested in listening in, even
if after the fact.

Chad

I don't think that would fit socially and it sounds like it would be
one more thing for someone to manage. We do this for the metabrainz
board meetings and its always a pain in the ass to deal with a
conference call. An IRC session is how we normally work and is even
required by Summer of Code. We do make an effort to share what we do,
thus Warp posting the links as reference and having chatloggers running.

And to throw in one more point.. At the last summit in London right
around lunch time when there was a lull and some people went to check
email, everyone re-congregated in the IRC chat room, even though more
than half of the people chatting in the IRC room were all present IRL.
While it may appear a little pathetic, it shows that the medium works
for us. :)

Fair enough; it was just a thought as a means to potentially engage a
wider audience with the development process which appears to be the main
focus of the Summits. Obviously there are costs and downsides to doing
so; some of which make sense for businesses where they may not for MB.
