I'm working on my first Devanagari OpenType font, and I'm stuck somehow.
I've put in most of the necessary glyphs and a few basic lookups
(e.g. Akhand and half forms) and they look good in the Metrics
window. I generated the font as TTF.
On the Mac, I can type in the font, but the lookups are not used.
Only the i vowel is properly reordered (put before the consonant
glyph it belongs to) so I know the OpenType engine is working. I
should mention that I'm using InDesign with a plugin called IndicPlus
that adds OpenType devanagari support based on ICU.
In Windows XP, any Devanagari text I type in the font is shown in the
default Mangal font, so I guess Windows doesn't recognize it as a
Devanagari font at all.
I've specified scripts {deva} and {deva2} for the lookups.
Hopefully, someone recognizes my mistake or otherwise can tell me
what to check!
