Take a look into your apache error log. You should have more infos on
what happends.

Error 500

Good Day!

Okay, I am not familiar whith softwares like phpGroupWare but I tried it for an organization I set. Anyways, after multiple mistakes, I went through the installation (finally) of the 0.9.16.012 version, I am able to login and see multiple attractive applications (e-mail, calendar, address book etc), wonderful. But damn, I cannot click on any of them! It shows me this Â« 500 Internal Server Error Â». What am I doing wrong this time?

I would be glad to provide additional information if it may be useful, but please if you know the problem, I beg you to keep it simple haha...it will save me the cost of a dictionary of informatic terms...

I still own the trademark and the domain name. We did transfer most if not all of the code to the FSF quite some time back, so it needs to stay GPL/LGPL

Every single framework does that... and many better than we do : Zend
first of them but also Symfony, drupal, eZ...

If we plan to gon on their scope we are dead...

And part of this work will involve thinking about template system :
coders are often very poor interface designers

And good interface designers have often very poor php and xml skills.
Dreamweaver (sorry guys for the ugly word) and css and htmls are their
worlds.

Relying on current xsltemplate even if it's sexy on the paper will
ensure that zero descent web designer will be able to get in and help
us make nice looking user interfaces.

As far as web design is concerned the previous phplib based template
system was loads better.

Suvbersion is all about keeping track of changes and helping bug hunting
by the means of changelog and commit date analysis

A million times okay for code fixing... but a million times not okay for
giant commits impossible to check

You probably did not even consider such commit... in this case please
accept my apologies for this part of my mail :)

but if you want to attract devs ans users that will not be enough

we'll need documentation (people willing to write it) and user + dev
support (people willing to help people getting in... explaining things
again and again)

And till we have enough manpower to make separate teams for support and
developpement and doc writing and betatesting the remaining people will
have to be everywhere

The code base still needs cleaning but that's not a complicated thing to
do. Provided a good "cleaning guide" even beginners could get in and
play with us all

focus on software intelligence (workflows for example) as well as
ergonomy (ajaxizing phpGW for example)

The main question is : are there enough of us left willing to continue
or not.

If the answer is "yes" we can then focus on team organization, election
of a leader and so on.

If the answer is "no"...

I have plans for it and want to keep it alive.

I think the best approach will be to focus on the system as a general application development framework - starting with the API and some core modules (admin, setup, preferences).
I also think the majority of the existing applications without a minimum level of maintenance has to be put in a historical archive for future reference and a possible source of inspiration only.

Well, it would be sad if we had to shut down phpGW. The code base might
be a bit outdated (php4), but the concept of phpGW of being more that
just calendar, mail and addressbook is stil valid and rather unique.

hi Dave,

Sorry to see you go away from phpGroupWare from a phpGroupWare point of
view.

You have a very deep knowledge of phpGW internals and we'll probably
find we miss this in due term.

We are still maintaining ged electronic documents management module and
the now stable generic flow management system.

If there are enough people interrested in phpGW going on (and willing to
contribute even very slightly... we also need people that are not
killers in php coding) we could try to see what can be done to make it
grow again instead of shutting it down.

What do people think here ? (dont limit yourselves ;) )

I think it could be feasible if I could have the chance so communicate with FSF
without having Dave blending in. It is as i understand not an absolute.
We all know Dave's position on this - but as he is stepping back - we could have
a go at it.

This has been explained to Sigurd in great detail by the FSF, they will
not revert the project's license to GPLv2. They also have issues with
GNU packages using GPLv2 only code, which was also explained to Sigurd.

ask me since I've basically been out of the loop for some years now,
but you need to keep in mind that the phpgw codebase is copyright the
USA based FSF and is a dotGNU project (which could probably change) so
there are legal limitations and such with what kind of licensing the
code in the project can have. If this is OK, I say go for it, is
there is any question at all, a fork might actually be easier.

The municipal of Bergen is currently in a pilot phase for a new organization
(comprising 1 mill m2 of schools and institutions).

The ramp up project is stipulated to last for at least two more years.

Maybe we should have a new supersmart template engine...

I propose myself as the API-koordinator.

I also think we have to let parties that are willing to fund the project to play
a role at some level.

Re: Anyone using the "timetrack" module?

Hi, I've been looking at Exchange replacements for our small business, and while I'm leaning towards Zimbra, I want to learn more about phpGroupWare. I've only begun to look through the forums, and I'm hoping to find life here, but I don't know what the culture of the project is now.

Anyway, I've been writing a scheduling program for our business, and will be using php for the frontend admin/config and calendar display.

I might be interested in this timetrack module, as I do have to track the hours accumulated. Right now this data is available on the back end through our payroll service, but I would like to integrate that with my program if possible.

If this groupware project is not mothballed, this could be great for our organization.

Anyone using the "timetrack" module?

Hello,

I am the original author of the timetrack module code for phpgroupware, but left the group way back in 2001 or so when I changed jobs. Anyway, I'm thinking of getting back on board to at least implement it again for the company I work for now, but I have not had any luck getting it to run. First off, it seems it's no longer included with the download version, but I was able to painstakingly go through the web browser interface to subversion to get most of it downloaded (I had also tried using a third party subversion client, TortoiseSVN, to check it out), but only ended up with some revision type directories and files, not the actuial code files).

When I did have it downloaded and ran the phpgroupware install and setup, it seems to have installed the timetrack module, but there is no icon in the navbar, and apparently none of the preference or admin hooks are present.

So my first step at this point is that I wanted to ask here if anyone is successfully using this module? Also perhaps the proper way to get the entire module using subversion, etc. I will probably post to the developers forum too to find out if anyone there knows what might need to be done to "upgrade" timetrack to the latest phpgroupware api code, as it looks like there have been some big changes to the module interface from the developer docs I have browsed through?

TTS edit text

Hi everyone,
I am trying to edit the text that appears in the Category drop down box found when submitting a New Ticket in the Trouble Ticket System. I have set up some Global categories but do not want the "<Global Trouble Ticket System>" text to appear as well as the category title. I have spent a lot of time searching through the various files but so far had no luck. (Idealy I do not want this text at all). Alternatively is there any way to set up categories for either a group of users or all Users?

Notes Problem

I am having a problem with the notes app. When a user posts a note, it doesn't show up for other users. The private check box was not used..... Everyone is in the same group. Hi, i would like to create a link, into phpgroupware, to cpnnect to phpmyedit. both are on same server.
something like a button or a connection tha brings to http://localhost/phpmyedit
How can I do?

Development status

I've started hunting for a groupware solution for my business and I ran across this one. I'm just checking to see how active development is. There is mention on the site of a 9.18 release but that info is nearly a year old. The demo doesn't seem to work, refusing to accept the username and login that the site indicates. Login php errors

My team got to the office today to find the following errors after hitting the login button on our calendar

Warning: array_flip(): The argument should be an array in /websites/cal.domain.net/phpgwapi/inc/class.sessions.inc.php on line 644

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /websites/cal.domain.net/phpgwapi/inc/class.sessions.inc.php:644) in /websites/cal.domain.net/phpgwapi/inc/class.phpgw.inc.php on line 152

Nothing obvious in the apache logs. I'm searching through some google searches that match a similar syntax as the errors above but not really having any luck. I don't think anyone was tampering with it between yesterday afternoon, the last time it was known to work fine and this morning. Thanks for any insight you might be able to give me. not sure what you mean. the install guide was written with installing
phpgw to a users public_html....

I have installed and am having the same problem, except that path should be correct. Unless I cannot install in the public_html of a domain which is on the server. Does it have to be installed to the root of the server or is there a way around this?
