Hi all,
Further to the recent bugfix on the generation of EAN-13 barcodes, used
for book jackets and many other kinds of product packaging, I wanted to
carry out some real-world tests.
I printed a real ISBN for a forthcoming book in EAN-13 format on to a
sheet of plain 80g/m2 copy paper using Inkscape and an ordinary HP
Laserjet 3050 desktop laser printer. I then took the print to my local
library, who scanned it for me using their hand-held barcode scanner on
the borrowing desk. The library computer recognised the EAN-13 on the
first swipe, and decoded it back to a ten-digit ISBN.
I'd like to thank all the Inkscape developers for this killer plugin.
Cheers!
Daniel
