Summary


 


Our client is a profitable, growing provider of valuable text search and
data mining solutions with a strong focus on life sciences. Thanks to a
great core team, and innovative technology, its software is acknowledged as
a leading solution. In fact, it was named the Best of Show for life science
information applications at a recent international bioinformatics
conference.  Due to increased demand for its products the company is
selectively adding to its professional staff. We seek two experienced life
science focused Applications Specialists to take a key role in this
expansion. These are challenging career opportunity to work closely with top
pharmaceutical companies, to provide them the tools and expertise required
to access the critical knowledge and data they need, often obscure in an
ever rising sea of information and professional literature.


 

Key tasks and responsibilities

 

* Support the sales team throughout the sales cycle in demonstrating
the value of the Company's solution to the customer
* One field based position involves traveling to customer sites to
present solutions and provide user training and support where appropriate. A
second opportunity is largely resident at an individual client company's
labs, which are biology focused
* Support the customer to ensure their success in using the product to
gain maximum ROI
* Become an expert in using the Company's products
* Develop compelling case studies showing how the software can be used
to solve real-world problems. There will also be opportunities to author
papers for submission to scientific journals
* Feed customer requirements back to the R&D team and help test new
software releases
* Assistance with customer deployments
* Undertake consulting and project work for customers

 


Requirements


 

The ideal candidate will have the following skills, experience and
qualifications:

 

* Life science degree, preferably to postgraduate level in biology,
genetics or chemistry
* Experience working in a life sciences R&D environment, ideally in a
commercial setting
* Experience in informatics and/or information management
* Direct experience of scripting languages, e.g. Perl, desirable
* Direct experience of life science information resources (e.g.
PubMed) or text mining tools desirable
* Good communication and presentation skills
* A pro-active attitude and ability to work in a team
