Hi,

I’ve managed to get a few x-10 modules made by EON3.  Unfortunately the computer module didn’t come with the cable so I can’t actually use them as yet.

I was wondering if anyone knew what the pinouts for the cable is so I can make one up.

It appears to be a rj11 plug which I assume goes to a 9 pin serial connector.

Any info would be appreciated.

Regards

Bart

Hi Bart,

Excerpted from http://idobartana.com/hakb/modifying_computer_interface.htm

<QUOTE>
The following is a description of the CM11A pinouts, for a RS232 version.

• The notation for RJ11 (phone style plug) is as follows:
Viewing the plug from it's contact side, the wire order is from left to
right:
Yellow-Green-Red-Black

• The notation for the RS232 pin is a standard D9 female plug, usually
marked on the plug itself.
RS232 pin    RJ11(phone style) pin
2            Yellow
3            Red
5            Black
9            Green

</QUOTE>

FWIW you'll see the computer module referred to as the CM11 and the CM12.  I
believe that the last digit is referring to the mains voltage - 1=110VAC,
and 2=240VAC.

Chris

Per http://software.x10.com/pub/manuals/cm11a_protocol.txt

Cable connections:

        Signal DB9 Connector RJ11 Connector
        SIN Pin 2 Pin 1
        SOUT Pin 3 Pin 3
        GND Pin 5 Pin 4
        RI Pin 9 Pin 2

where: SIN Serial input to PC (output from the interface)
        SOUT Serial output from PC (input to the interface)
        GND Signal ground
        RI Ring signal (input to PC)

The plug for the CM11A end is the smaller modular handset connector, not the
regular size RJ11 telephone plug.
