Eclipse Development Environment
I want to start tinkering with the
vtiger software which I am currently in process of installing to my
machine, and I have a few question.
I'm normally a Java developer, and have used Eclipse for ages. I'd like to continue to use Eclipse - does anyone else use this for their vtiger development? If not, what IDE do you use? I wanted to connect to the SVN server using the plug-in for Eclipse - should I be able to do this, and does anyone know the correct settings? Think that would be it for now. Thanks, Rus. Re: Eclipse Development EnvironmentHi Rus,
I too am a Java developer using Eclipse (Galileo) as my IDE of choice. You can indeed connect to the SVN Server from within Eclipse, the repository URL is:
If you need an Eclipse Plugin then I use Subversion and Subclipse:
respectively, are the update sites. Good luck, hope that helps. Regards Daud 2009/11/2 Russell Dodd <rus@...>

Re: Eclipse Development EnvironmentI do use Eclipse to work on Vtiger and I'm really happy with it.
Here are some starting points : http://www.eclipse.org/pdt/ http://www.phpeclipse.com/ http://www.zend.com/community/pdt I don't use SVN so I can't help you on this (I use Bazaar). For debugging you can also use http://xdebug.org/ It works perfectly with Eclipse. David V. 2009/11/2 Russell Dodd <rus@...>

Re: Eclipse Development Environment
Think I've got all my Eclipse
plug-ins working OK, and I'm browsing the SVN repository. But, there
are a lot of folders and files there! Could someone suggest the most
appropriate point/folder for doing a check out from (or direct me to an
explanation of the repository structure - I'm not familiar with how a
project (especially a PHP one) might be organized within SVN)?

Re: Eclipse Development EnvironmentOur 5.1.0 working branch was http://trac.vtiger.com/svn/vtiger/vtigercrm/branches/5.1/ (http://trac.vtiger.com/svn/vtiger/vtigercrm/trunk - also has 5.1.0 codebase) The SVN repository is setup with restrictions on commit, we would recommend you to setup project at http://forge.vtiger.com for any extension development. However, you can checkout the code from trac.vtiger.com with out issue. Regards, Prasad vtiger Team On 11/2/09, Russell Dodd <rus@...> wrote:
