Dear all,

I have a thought. As per of Micro Finance Summit 2009, goes very
informative and successful. There, I have read about one of media
partner MicroFinancefocus views, used in following opinion poll: other
polls you can find in this link -
http://www.microfinancefocus.com/liveblog/?p=256
<http://www.microfinancefocus.com/liveblog/?p=256>

Key Findings:-

    * 57 % of respondents are not confident on Indian MFIs transparency
level.
    * 87 % respondent supported a uniform Microfinance
regulation.
    * 67 % respondent said commercialization causing mission shift.
    * 61 % respondent said no to interest cap but a significant 39 %
said Yes
    * It`s time MFIs expand into Livelihoods services, as 83 % strongly
believe in it.

Are Indian Microfinance Institutions (MFIs) honest enough to promote
transparency?

In this poll, you can see yellow marked line says most of the people
strongly believe that MFIs should start to look for LIVELIHOOD services
now. Regarding this point, i have an idea/thought that if MFIs and an
EDUCATION based NGOs come with a partnership model or a joint efforts
towards developing successful system for livelihood development then, I
think we will have a good example of sustainable development. By this
way, we will be able to fulfill following points for poor people:
- To work on livelihood businesses and its accountability &
sustainability with proper knowledge and idea.- If they are educated
then they can think more options to earn money from business.- It will
give a freedom to them (Freedom means, an independent, self motivated,
self sustain etc.),- To increase their ability to understand/analyise on
taking next loan (how they can repay?), not just getting loan paying
back, there should be a kind of positive impact.- To literate parents,
will be very fruitful on future of their children.
Many more points can come out. I can suggest this way to understand the
development and future of microfinance.
I request you all experts, please give your views and ideas (favor and
against).

Hope to look forward a good discussion.

Thanks
