G.729 has patents pending and so cannot be distributed under most OSS-licences.

> AFAIK, there are some open source projects which support g.729 codecs.
> For example, asterisk (though I do not have experience with it).

Format support, Codec operation support requires buying a licence as You can
>> Hi,
>>
>> I started ekiga one hour ago, when I was in a network where I had a
>> public IP address.
>>
>> Now I am at home, where I have a private IP address.
>>
>> I was surprised to see trunk's ekiga icon changed to an exclamation
>> mark, with "The following accounts are inactive: ..." as tooltip, this
>> was a good job!
>>
>> But I see that now it fails to register (Globally not acceptable) to
>> ekiga, because I have a private address. When I started ekiga, I had a
>> public IP address, and the stun replied OpenNAT.
>>
>> Conclusion: when re-registering after a network cut/interruption,
>> shouldn't the stun test be re-tried?
>>
>> Well, it's just a minor issue...
>>
>
>
> Can you mail Robert ?
> I agree about this. But you will need to reproduce the problem with a
> debug output.

I lost the output. But before that, I looked into it and it seemed it
really retried the stun, which failed, afterwards it retried sip
registering several times, until it received a response, the Globally
not acceptable. Maybe the solution is to retry stun when the network is
up again, not only before.

Conclusion: I must do a more careful analysis.

Hello,
Is there support in Ekiga for g.729 audio codec ?
I saw some threads about it in the mailing list and on some other
places, but I am not
sure as whether this can be done or not.
I would appreciate if anyone who have any experience with it will share his
experience. If it is possible to use g.729, it would be great to post
here a step by step
description of what should be done for achieving it.

I see that in opal-3.6.6 , there is some support for g.729 (in
src/codec/g729mf.cxx)
but I am not sure what this means/
>> The reason for this crash was that the account was destructed first on
> I committed the second one to TRUNK. Thanks !

I'm not sure it's 100% correct : if I understand well, we only emit
"removed" when there is a registration event... and if there is none,
then removing won't work.
> These are merely my suggestions; No intentions of being
> offensive :-)).

The documentation part, which is now in the wiki, will be reworked as
the Ekiga.net move to Drupal. Unfortunately, none of the core team use
Fedora/Red Hat, thus it is very hard for us to document it... If you

The reason for this crash was that the account was destructed first on

>> This seems to be related to 031069d8eb 2009-10-15 18:07:15 and the
>> trouble we had in stable

>> Except of that I am sure to have compiled a debug version.
>
> I possibly fixed that one.
>
> Can you check ?
>
> Thanks !
>
It is fixed !! I observed a heap instability at the same point of Win32
Ekiga, but that should be separated. Thank you.
Nevertheless, I would like to build the Win32 debug version with the
same principle code base as the release one. Can we get rid of the
silent devices in debug and release?

Well, release would require a patch in that case. I would recommend against doing it.

> > Hi,
> >
> > We decided to improve our Website for Ekiga. It was hard to
> > manage/update for the Ekiga team and it was not as clear as our visitors
> > expected it.
> >
> > We now reached the point were our new website can be more widely tested.
> >
> > For the visitor, we focused on improving the download experience,
> > explain what Ekiga is more friendly for non-technophiles and added a
> > Roadmap for those asking about the future of Ekiga.
>
> Hello Yannick,
>
> On the main page, in the window "Get Ekiga!" the link "Download Ekiga" is
> broken: http://ekiga.net/yannick/drupal-6.14/downloads
>
>

Indeed. Thank you. It is fixed now.

Best regards,
Yannick
