Ekiga is an H.323 compatible videoconferencing and VOIP/IP-Telephony application that allows you to make audio and video calls to remote users with H.323 hardware or software (such as Microsoft Netmeeting). It supports all modern videoconferencing features, such as registering to an ILS directory, gatekeeper support, making multi-user conference calls using an external MCU, using modern Quicknet telephony cards, and making PC-To-Phone calls. Ekiga home is here.
> When I started my call Ekiga used the specified SOCKS port, but as
> because SIP signalling gets SOCKSified and the RTP stream doesn't?
>
> This is very inconvenient to me because I want to do QoS on my OpenWrt

Hello,

I built ptlib/opal/ekiga from scratch along with ffmpeg/x264 to enable
the extra codecs. The packages ptlib/opal/ekiga were downloaded from the
website and ffmpeg/x264 were downloaded from version control (latest).
Everything compiled fine and, when I tried to run Ekiga, I've got these

After some web search, I found this link:
<https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=596006>, which relates to
the problem.

What I didn't understand is whether the website sources include the
patch created for this bug or if I should get opal from the VCS.

Thanks for any explanation/information.

Regards,
I think this could be another crash (but too no playing with ekiga

I think
Your package fails to build with GCC 4.3. In GCC 4.3, the C++
header dependencies have been cleaned up. The advantage of this is that
programs will compile faster. The downside is that you actually need to
directly #include everything you use (but you really should do this
anyway, otherwise your program won't work with any compiler other than
GCC). There's some more information about this at
http://gcc.gnu.org/gcc-4.3/porting_to.html,

Many of the
standard C++ library
include files have been edited to only include the smallest
possible number of additional files. As such, many C++ programs that
used
std::memcpy
without including <cstring>, or
used
std::auto_ptr
without including <memory> will
no longer compile.

#include
<cstring> in the file which gives you this error may solve your
problem.

I've compiled ekiga 3.2.6 with ptlib 2.6.5 and opal 3.6.6 on Fedora 11
recently. If you don't have any specific requirement for using ekiga
3.2.5, go for the latest one ( ekiga 3.2.6 )

> >
> > Scenario:
> > When I connect 3 ekiga end points ( ekiga 3.2.6 ) with Aethra Vega
> > X3 MCU ( + endpoints ) using H.323 protocol, 1 or 2 endpoints can
> > see the remote video but the other end point(s) can see only local
> > video. Will it be one or two ekiga endpoints which can display
> > remote video is not predictable. Audio is transmitted and received
> > perfectly at all ends.
> >
> > Ekiga is running on windows XP desktop PC, Dell laptop with windows
> > XP and a PC with Fedora 11.

It's also now in gnome bugzilla:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=601882

Just out of interest, are you using single core machines? One user
reported on the launchpad bug that the problem ceased to manifest itself
when he used a dual-core machine. There looks to be a race condition
and if the effect differs with the number of cores it would most likely
be caused by an incorrect use of threads.

Since (I believe) ekiga is not multi-threaded but opal is, it may be a
problem with the way in which ekiga interfaces with opal. I had a
quick look at the ekiga and opal code but the relationships between the
library components was too complex, and my knowledge of voip too
limited, to make very much sense of it.

Hi,
I am unable to see remote video on ekiga 3.2.6.

Scenario:
When I connect 3 ekiga end points ( ekiga 3.2.6 ) with Aethra Vega X3
MCU ( + endpoints ) using H.323 protocol, 1 or 2 endpoints can see the
remote video but the other end point(s) can see only local video. Will
it be one or two ekiga endpoints which can display remote video is not
predictable. Audio is transmitted and received perfectly at all ends.

Ekiga is running on windows XP desktop PC, Dell laptop with windows XP
and a PC with Fedora 11.

Let me know if you need more details.

>
> Indeed, but is supporting pulseaudio directly a planned feature?. Just
> not allowing ekiga to access the ALSA layer directly would also
> instantly make it pulseaudio friendly.

There is a pulse (ptlib) plugin, but in trunk only, and there is no
>>
>
> The "short" version of SIP headers perfectly legal and documented in
> the RFC.
> The reason why it uses short headers is related to the fact that you
> enabled too many codecs. It leads to a long SIP message that
> can't be transmitted reliably over UDP, so Ekiga uses the compact form
> for the headers to circumvent that.
