Emacs 23.1 Modified now available

This is to announce the immediate availability of my updated
distributions of GNU Emacs 23.1 Modified. They include the latest
versions of ESS and AUCTeX. The Windows version also includes the
Aspell spell checker. See

        http://vgoulet.act.ulaval.ca/en/ressources/emacs/windows

for the Windows version and

        http://vgoulet.act.ulaval.ca/en/ressources/emacs/mac

for the Mac OS version.

This is the first official release of the Mac version. There may very
well be bugs to iron out. In particular, reports from PPC users will
be welcome as this is my first attempt at building universal binaries.

Please report any problems or difficulties with these releases
directly to me.

Hope this helps,

Thats great, thanks Vincent.

Unfortunately the link to the windows executable on the English
version of the page still points to 22.3.

The French version of your pages link to the 23.1 (see
http://vgoulet.act.ulaval.ca/ressources/emacs/windows ).

Thanks for packaging all of this together, makes installing the
software you bundle at work a lot less hassle.

Cheers,

Neil

Hum, are you sure? Everything seems fine for me.

For me, too.
I've installed it on our (only) Windows terminal server; and it
"works" and *is* emacs 23.1.

Thanks a *LOT* to Vincent!

I've installed the latest version for Windows (23.1 modified 2)  from
http://vgoulet.act.ulaval.ca/en/ressources/emacs/windows

Using this version, I'm unable create a new file using C-x C-f

... a dialog pops up
Find file:  test .R
File not found
Please verify correct file name was given

I have reverted to 22.3 modified-5 and C-x C-f behaves as expected.  Is
there a fix for this in my configuration?  I tried installing as
Administrator and got the same error.

Thanks.  --Dale

A dialog pops up if you use File | Visit New File...

I confirm this behavior on Emacs 23.1, but not on 22.3. Weird bug.

My workaround and fail-safe solution would be: don't use the menus!
The *real* C-x C-f, entered with the keyboard works just fine.

This makes no difference whatsoever.
