I just learned that fonts have embedding properties which are
specified by the font publisher. They can be viewed on Windows by
installing "Font properties extension," which shows several added tabs
of info that you don't normally see when looking a properties.
Embedding properties apparently control how far and how permanently a
font can "migrate" into the OS from a document.
Does anyone know if/how this property is handled by 4D Server? Or is
it handled by the OS? Or is it just "advisory"--a legal notice telling
you what's not nice? For instance, one value for the embedding
property is "Installable embedding allowed," which means "fonts may be
embedded in documents and permanently installed on the remote system."
I'm wondering if this is a way for the app to distribute a font or is
it just saying it's ok for someone to install it without any license
issues.
Thanks,
Bill
