Enterprise Blogging Solutions?Hello All, I've been plagued with the task of doing some research regarding enterprise-level blogging solutions (really, non-FOSS solutions, but in this client's case, enterprise-level software is the way to go). Of course, this means no BlogCFC, Mango Blog, or Mura CMS to handle it (and CERTAINLY not WordPress!). I've been trying to do some research and have come up pretty short. Our company would like to keep this in the CF realm, since it's what we're used to working with. It looks like some CMS solutions like ShadoCMS or HotBanana may work for us, however, since there really isn't much information on their site, and the fact that I really don't want to engage in conversations with annoying sales people, it's hard to tell for certain. Has anyone out there had experience with either one of these products, and can shed some light on blogging tools within them? Or perhaps you're aware of some other CF enterprise CMS/blogging tools that I'm not? I'd appreciate any thoughts from the community. Thanks! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Want to reach the ColdFusion community with something they want? RE: Enterprise Blogging Solutions? You and I know they are all great products. The problem, however, is that they're FOSS (Free-Open-Source-Software). I can tell you that the client is a very large financial institution, and because they are such, they have very stringent requirements for creating ANY website. We could, of course, create a custom solution for them as well, however, my bosses up the chain agree that we need to find a ready-made solution. -----Original Message----- From: Alan Rother [mailto:alan.rother@...] Sent: Tuesday, November 10, 2009 12:47 PM To: cf-talk Subject: Re: Enterprise Blogging Solutions? >>> Of course, this means no BlogCFC, Mango Blog, or Mura CMS to handle it (and CERTAINLY not WordPress!). Re: Enterprise Blogging Solutions?Gotcha, you need a "Guarantee on the box" type of solution... Been there.. I hate that mindset, but I understand it all too well. Re: Enterprise Blogging Solutions? As a silly question - Have you been in contact with either Mura or the ASFusion to ask what sort of support packages they could provide for you? RE: Enterprise Blogging Solutions?Mura won't work in this case. If it could, I wouldn't be writing this. We use Mura day in and day out around here. Part of the client's requirements, no FOSS software, doesn't really help us with this one. :-( As far as ASFusion, I'm not familiar with them, it looks like they are some sort of a custom solution provider. When I spoke to my boss a little while ago, he made sure to mention that we won't be building something custom for this, specifically for the reasons that Alan mentioned ("Guarantee on the box"). I guess I'll be calling salespeople. EEEK. Re: Enterprise Blogging Solutions?ASFusion is the people behind Mangoblog. I have no idea if they *do* support for Mango, but its worth asking the question. Farcry *does* have a blogging platform, and they most definitely have a support plan/professional open source business. RE: Enterprise Blogging Solutions? The reasoning that this client doesn't want any FOSS software lies in the fact that they don't want anything that can be "easily exploitable" ... meaning ... they don't want open source code not because there's a support issue involved, but because they're afraid of someone finding potential problems in the open source software and exploiting their site. Surely it's understandable. IMHO, FOSS software would be better anyways... when an exploit is found it is usually corrected immediately (hours) unlike other types of solutions (days or even weeks). But... it's the customer's policy and choice to go this route (and trust me, their policy is ridiculously over-the-top). Thank you, everyone, for your help.
