There is a PostgreSQL server available in Debian, just an apt-get away. The "Plus Advanced Server" thing seems to be a proprietary product; this would mean that there is no source, and thus, that it is not possible to run this on a PowerPC machine. You could ask EnterpriseDB whether they'd be willing to provide it, but I doubt they are. -- The biometric identification system at the gates of the CIA headquarters works because there's a guard with a large gun making sure no one is trying to fool the system. http://www.schneier.com/blog/archives/2009/01/biometrics.html -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-powerpc-REQUEST@... with a subject of "unsubscribe". I just wanted to have a free database with the Oracle PL/SQL stuff..... and Oracle XE is not available for powerPC either.... Anyhow... anyone with experience on running Oracle RDBMS on Debian (powerpc) ?? > > -- > The biometric identification system at the gates of the CIA > headquarters > works because there's a guard with a large gun making sure no one is > trying to fool the system. > http://www.schneier.com/blog/archives/2009/01/biometrics.html kind regards nse "Ach, crivens, what a wee snotter....." If your company/client bought powerpc-based computers, then I think that could be used as an argument to ask for powerpc binaries (I don't know Oracle). Talking about RDBMSes already in Debian, they should work on powerpc the same way that they would run on other platforms (ideally). Actually, most software *does* happen to run as well on ppc as on, say, amd64. The exceptions are really the vast minority. Have to look into this... Actually what I really need is to verify that it will run with Compiere (www.compiere.com) ... and they state that they will run on Oracle and EnterpriseDB Advanced Server.... and it is the PL/SQL which is the _key_ issue..... > > Fábio Rabelo > > > 2009/9/3 Rogério Brito <rbrito@...> > On Sep 03 2009, Niels S.
